Success Key No. 4: A Burning DESIRE

A BURNING DESIRE TO BE AND TO DO is the starting point from which the dreamer must depart into Action.  Wishing will not bring rishes.  But, desiring riches with a state of mind that becomes an obsession, then planning definite ways and means to acquire riches, and backing those plans with persistence, which does not recognize failure, will bring riches.

Success Key No. 4: A Burning DESIRE, Planning and Definiteness of Purpose

Without doubt, Desire, and in particular, burning Desire, is the starting point for all the achievement of all Success - including the attainment of wealth, propserity and riches.  This is uncontroverted fact and a principle that the budding Success student must not only accept as true, but execute and implement into his or her life if Success, wealth, prosperity and riches are to be gained.  Without a burning Desire, the balance of the Success Formula is useless.  A lack of a burning Desire is tantamount to the inclusion of "zero" in the tried and true Success Formula, which, by mathematical law, must result in failure or lack of Success.  One million multiplied by zero is still zero.

"Only those who become "money-conscious" ever accumulate great riches.  Money-consciousness means that the mind has become so thoroughly saturated with the DESIRE for money that one can see one's self already in possession of it."  -  Napoleon Hill, "Think and Grow Rich"
Through the ages, Success teachers, writers, sages, speakers, authors and Success Masters have understood the importance of beginning any quest with Desire and have thoroughly discussed that Success Formula element in their teachings and writings.  The element of Desire is nothing new.  Indeed, in his classic, Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill devoted an entire chapter - Chapter 1, in fact - to DESIRE.  The fact that the entire First Chapter of this Success masterpiece is solely on the subject of Desire underscores its importance.
Do you have a burning Desire for that which you seek or are you merely wishing?  The answer to that question is an indicator of whether you are traveling on the path to Success.
So, how does the element of Desire actually impact the attainment of Success, wealth, prosperity and riches?  In today's Success Key, we turn directly to Mr. Hill who provides a phenomenal explanation in Chapter 1 of his timeless Success Manual, Think and Grow Rich (coming soon as a FREE Ebook Download to the Success Manual Strategist).

Wishing will not bring riches.  But desiring riches with a state of mind that becomes an obsession, then planning definite ways and means to acquire riches, and backing those plans with persistence which does not recognize failure, will bring riches.
The method by which DESIRE for riches can be transmuted into its financial equivalent, consists of six definite, practical steps:
FIRST:  Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire.  It is not sufficient merely to say “I want plenty of money.”  Be definite as to the amount.  (There is a psychological reason for definiteness which will be described in a subsequent chapter).
SECOND:  Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire.  (There is no such reality as “something for nothing.)
THIRD:  Establish a definite date when you intend to possess the money you desire.
FOURTH:  Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire, and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action.
FIFTH:  Write out a clear, concise statement of the amount of money you intend to acquire, name the time limit for its acquisition, state what you intend to give in return for the money, and describe clearly the plan through which you intend to accumulate it.
SIXTH:  Read your written statement aloud, twice daily, once just before retiring at night, and once after arising in the morning.  AS YOU READ – SEE AND FEEL AND BELIEVE YOURSELF ALREADY IN POSSESSION OF THE MONEY.
* * * * * *
It is important that you follow the instructions described in these six steps.  It is especially important that you observe, and follow the instructions in the sixth paragraph.  You may complain that it is impossible for you to “see yourself in possession of money” before you actually have it.  Here is where a BURNING DESIRE will come to your aid.  If you truly DESIRE money so keenly that your desire is an obsession, you will have no difficulty in convincing yourself that you will acquire it.  The object is to want money, and to become so determined to have it that you CONVINCE yourself you will have it.
